Solid wood flooring is famous for it’s beauty and classical elegance, but this does come at a high price. Like anything, we pay for luxury and quality, and most of the time we will do nearly anything to protect our investment, especially when it comes to flooring! There’s nothing worse than staining something you like, especially when you have spent a significant amount of money on it like your floors! Imagine this: it’s a Friday night and you’ve just spilt a load of red wine all over your new solid wood floors. But don’t panic, there is a way to eradicate this and we’re here to tell you.
First of all, don’t panic it is actually not as bas as you think. Check online if there’s a way to remove a stain or contact the manufacturer. If not, soak up the spillage with paper towels and very gently wipe it with a damp cloth, this should get the majority of it up.
Like with any surface, white or pale stains are much easier to tackle, so the darker the stain the quicker you’re going to have to act.
One of the most effective ways of removing a stain is through hydrogen peroxide. Cheap and nice and easy to get hold of, this is probably you’re best bet with getting the stain out. Dab a cloth and place it over the stain, then leave it for around 6-8 hours. If the stain still hasn’t fully come up, then leave it on foe another 12 hours and this should hopefully do the trick.
If this hasn’t worked, then don’t worry you’re not going to have to give up on your flooring entirely. As a last resort, you can sand down and refinish your whole floor or just where the stain is to make it look good as new again. This can be done a number of times depending on the floor’s thickness, so just be aware of this, but you don’t need to replace your floors!
