As Trade Dynamics Within the Coal Industry Continue to Shift, New Innovations are Changing the Way Coal Mines Operate

Sibanthracite Group is ranked first in the production and export of UHG anthracite throughout the world, and is the largest producer of metallurgical coal at the domestic level. Sibanthracite Group is one of the most dynamically developing coal companies in Russia. The coal production amounted to 6 million tonnes in 2014, and 24.1 million tonnes in 2018.

The global coal industry is on an impressive trajectory for continued growth. Despite our world’s steady reliance and growth of coal consumption, the coal trade industry is continually experiencing significant shifts – as consumption trends vary distinctively across the globe – strengthening a number of markets (including Russia and Australia) when it comes to the production and exporting of coal.

New innovations across the globe are being rapidly deployed, changing the traditional coal mining landscape, as countries respond to trade pressures and fight to retain their positions within the market.  A number of coal producing countries are making significant investments in technology and innovation – that are enhancing operations and creating differentiated, competitive edges against the competition.

China’s recent investment in 5G technology – via a mine-based, explosion proof 5G base station – will significantly shift their coal operations, enhancing coal mine communication and management, as well as safety production and monitoring.

China isn’t the only country making investments to change the industry and optimize operations. Russia’s Sibanthracite Group, the country’s largest producer of metallurgical coal, is in a strategic and  intensive growth mode, and is developing and adopting proprietary innovation and technology to strengthen their operations. The Sibanthracite Group’s new electronic work order system has enabled  improved production control, as well as increased safety, and takes the company one step further in achieving its vision to create a fully integrated and automated labor protection system, for use across all of its companies.

As the global power struggle to dominate the coal production and export space continues to evolve, innovation and technology will continue to be a key component to shifting the paradigm.
